Episode (68)
Allah Almighty mentioned in the story of Adam, peace be upon him, in Surah Al-Baqarah the name of Allah, The Wise, on the lips of the honorable angels, as they said: {They said, "Exalted are You; we have no knowledge except what You have taught us. Indeed, it is You who is the Knowing, the Wise."} [Al-Baqarah: 32].
Correct minds and sound instincts have indicated, as the Holy Qur'an and Sunnah do, that He Almighty is "Wise" and does nothing without purpose or for any reason other than a meaningful benefit and wisdom that is the intended goal of His actions. Indeed, His actions stem from profound wisdom for which He has acted as He has, as they arise from causes through which He acts. His words and the words of His Messenger affirm this, and this is found in countless instances, making it impossible to enumerate all of them.
The name "The Wise" necessarily implies the establishment of praiseworthy and intended purposes for His actions, placing things in their appropriate contexts, and executing them in the best manner. To deny this is to deny the name itself and its implications.
"The Wise" is the one who possesses the ultimate wisdom in His creation and command, who has made everything He created in the best manner: {But who is better than Allah in judgement for a people who are certain [in faith].} [Al-Ma'idah: 50]. He does not create anything without purpose, nor does He legislate in vain. He has authority in this world and the Hereafter, and He has three types of judgments in which no one shares with Him. He judges among His servants in His legislation, His divine decree, and His recompense. Wisdom is placing things in their proper contexts and assigning them their rightful positions.
The Wise is the one described by the perfection of wisdom and the perfection of judgment among His creations. The Wise is one who possesses vast knowledge and insight into the principles of matters and their consequences, who is full of praise, complete in power, and abundant in mercy. He is the one who places things in their proper contexts and assigns them their appropriate positions in creation and command. Therefore, no questions can be directed to Him, nor can any statements undermine His wisdom.
