Episode (81)
Allah Almighty said: {But Satan whispered to them to make apparent to them that which was concealed from them of their private parts. He said, "Your Lord did not forbid you this tree except that you become angels or become of the immortal."} [Al-A'raf: 20]. Allah referred to Iblees as "Satan" and not by his name. The phrase {But Satan whispered to them} uses the descriptive term because whispering is characteristic of the devil, and thus He shifted from his name to his description. Whispering is an inspiration from the devil to them, or a continuous conversation with them, which may be evident or may involve subtle, hidden feelings.
The action of whispering implies a continuous conversation between Iblees and them, along with his overt and covert suggestions. This persistence indicates that they did not respond to him from the first, second, or even the tenth time.
The act of whispering indicates that they remained cautious of him, remembering his enmity, and maintained awareness and vigilance for a period while heeding Allah's warning to them. Additionally, this act of whispering suggests the great effort he exerted in whispering to them and deceiving them, as well as their confrontation of his whispers with attentiveness.
